Author Daniel Horne

Author Daniel Horne is a business executive, husband, and father of two. Before this incident he had never been arrested, nor had any conflict with the law worse than the once a decade speeding ticket. Today, Daniel Horne is your average violent felon — an ordinary citizen fallen prey to a an out of control political system. In most ways, he is exactly like you. The primary difference is that his experience is over, and yours may yet be waiting to happen.

Daniel’s memoir, Accidental Felons, tells the story of a family’s trauma after he was involved in a DUI automobile accident with no serious injury. Horne explains how, after being sentenced to three years’ probation, he spent one torturous year in the Alcatraz of Arizona, Maricopa County’s notorious Tent City jail.

That is where he learned that he was not the exception to the rule of law, but its norm. Tent City, and Arizona's prisons are filled with Accidental Felons. So much so that the weight of such mass incarceration and penal mismanagement has bankrupted the entire state's ability to provide state services to its population.

Seeing political wrong-doing on a massive scale, witnessing Arizona's impending collapse into America's First For-Profit Prison State, and watching thousands of ordinary citizens being re-manufactured into violent felons and sexual predators for political gain was too much for Daniel to walk away from. Risking his own safety, and the safety of his family, he exposes mismanagement, greed, and the abuse of power by Arizona’s elected officials.

Daniel Horne holds a Master of Science Degree in Finance, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business, and an Associate of Science Degree in Engineering. He served as Chief Financial Officer for seven years with a Mesa Defense Contractor before health issues caused by his experience forced him to retire. He worked in the high-technology industry for 33 years and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. In addition to being a Vietnam Era veteran, he has lived in Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, Maryland, California, and Arizona.

Daniel Horne is currently self-employed. Besides writing, he enjoys painting and time with his family. He still lives in Arizona with his wife and two young children.
